Yes I foresee that this will be another mindless typing session. I was looking forward to post exams fun, post exams, but now that it's here, I find myself sadly lost. A loss at what to do, feeling lost that I don't have to drive myself crazy for weeks on end anymore. Neopets isn't that alluring anymore now that it's no longer a naughty thing to do.

Right, onto my next love: Food. Friday night saw me baking banana chocolate muffins which were possible, courtesy of Kim's leftover bananas and Yvonne's enveloped recipes sent 2 weeks ago =) I found them pretty good, but as procrastibakers and pseudochefs like myself will know- we cook but we dont eat much of it. Anyhoozlebees, they are the healthier alternative because the recipe substituted butter for canola oil, and I used wholemeal flour for that extra fibre, and added flaxseeds in it simply because they were in the pantry- so extra omega oils source. Alas, dear folks, no pictures were taken because.... I am Queen Lazy of Laziland. And they weren't particularly pretty.

On Sunday night and Monday evening, I baked
chocolate truffle cookies, again the recipe is courtesy of Yvonne's packet of recipes. This was very well received even by the self professed anti-sweet tooth Jason, so it must have been good. It uses loads of chocolate and doesn't really require that much sugar in it later on. I must say though, these cookies are very bewildering and are a must-watch in the oven not just because you might overcook them, but because they look so weird. See, you first roll them into balls, and then you HAVE to space them 2 inches apart. HAVE to. In the over they will melt suddenly into a big wet brown puddle which will make you feel like a failure. Later on, they will start puffing up like... flat puffy cookies. You remove them from the oven when they have lost that wet sheen, upon which they deflate and look like old lady boobies. I swear.

I have also imposed a self ban on shopping and am so proud of myself so far. Though it's only been an hour.

Since I have no pretty pictures for you, I put this up to show you the current 5 minute favourite of my moment. Look how silky it is! But I don't think my bottom deserves such luxury.

post exams haze

So hello again =)

I have not been doing anything substantial for the past (thursday friday saturday sunday) 4 days! Woohoo! But it is a strange feeling when overwhelming stress suddenly puffs and disappears. And just before my mind settle back into nostalgia and says "Hey, that wasn't so bad", I would like to remind it of the stress and junk food residues that it left behind as a legacy. Of course the mind wouldn't mind when the body gets scarred.

wednesday me and gim went to Pdus' place for lunch where he cooked up quite a storm. I was delegated to watch the fish. It was definitely a good feed. After that, we went shopping where I promptly proceeded to spend something like $10 in every store. :S now, $10 doesnt sound like much, but we did go to a few places.... So that got me a white shirt, stupid nail polish (that broke in my bag before i got a single use out of it!!), a fluffy pink cap, a singlet from cotton on. Hmm. That doesnt sound quite right.. on thursday I moped around at home for a bit before I brightened up and had homemade chips and rost shicken for lunch, then walked to town and walked around again. There, I walked into the bodyshop and discovered that the japanese cherry blossom range was still there! In fact, it was no longer a limited edition thing 'cos of the huge demand. So yay! No, I did not get it then. But I forsee it happening in future.

I worked on friday and saturday night, OHHHHHHhhhh which reminds me, I should go and bank in that cheque =)

Ahhhh my blog sounds so superficial.

fine dining at salisbury

This is the spread of food we had for dinner last night. Sam and Cindy brought some cheese and ham bread to go with the pumpkin soup, and I made sushi- salmon teriyaki, egg "mayo", cream cheese, and in seaweed roll and inari forms. I can now proudly announce that my seaweed rolls are up to standard =) Mulled wine was the choice of drink, which wound up the meal pretty well I must say.

Ahhh what a good dinner that was.

Also, I realisd that I don't talk much in the first half of the meal and only start being social in the second half =p My brain just goes "numnumnum chomp chomp this one first then that one... numnumnum".

I baked those damned green tea cupcakes alright, but they didn't turn out like that! I am disappointed. I think if I ever do attempt making them again, it'll require a higher finer grade of matcha. daaaaaaaaaaamn. should have tasted the batter before baking as she recommended. so now I have green cupcakes that taste like regular ones.

I feel so frivolous when I dress nicely and then head over to the library to study, which is really silly. So I tap up the library stairs in my black and white flats, sit demurely in my little checkered skirt and wool stockings and nice lined coat. and haul out a big white file containing intellectual matters of clinical pathology. No, it's not to say that vet students don't ahve a right to dress fashionably, but I have also been in comfort mode so long that it's weird..I look more like a shopping twit than a student up for some serious work.

Actually though, I do feel like a shopping twit more than an intellectual vet student. I quite like the image that people expect me to be just another fash/trash business student (cos most asian girls that dress to the nines here are from biz), and then I start discussing rumen and guts with great relish with a classmate that walks by. It tickle me insides warm.

My mind is so entertaining sometimes.

procrasti-baking 2009 sem 1

This weekend or on friday evening, I will bake....... GREEN TEA CUPCAKES. I have no idea why I want to eat it so much when I don't think have ever had a craving for it. Perhaps Jason's enthusiasm for baking Japanese cheesecake has influenced me. He baked his best one yet tonight as I made meatballs for dinner. It was moist and melt-in-your-mouth dreamy texture while the top was still a little sticky and just a teensy bit brown. The sad thing about this cake is that it never lasts long.

With any luck, my experiment should turn out like this :

I just googled 'green tea cupcake recipe'. Hehe. Google is amazing =)

Distractions....?

I know I SHOULD be studying for cattle right now. SHOULD is the word, which hints that I am not. In fact, what I'm actually doing is contemplating having sushi for dinner. And how I can make it taste good vegetarian. Also, there is the problem of the leftover veg stw from last night. I propose to have leftovers tonight and sushi tomorrow.

Smallies and equine are down- left with cattle, path and deer/sheep/goat to tackle.

I cannot wait for auckland time to come, despite the 8 hour bus trip up and down. Me and Bron shall be dining shopping gossiping and having fun. I really wish she were still studying in Palmy. She called last night and we chatted for 50 minutes =) We have decided that I should bring my bright pink nail polish up, and are going on a boot hunting mission. Yeshhhhhhhh finally a boot hunting companion. =)

Anyway, I have to think of Cirque du Soleil.

That's right, I don't have the questions yet.

'Tis a very stressful world we live in now. Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?
